About

What WD does

Whittle Designs specializes in creating folk art and wooden sculptures using traditional whittling techniques. Whittling means sculpting wooden objects that are handheld. Only a sharp cutting tool is used to reduce the wood to its intended shape.

Since 1987, the Artisan has produced handcarved art to include—holiday designs, caricatures, folk characters, and wearable items. WD sells its work at regional galleries and shows. WD also teaches whittling techniques for artisan and recreational centers.

Mission

Whittle Designs seeks to keep whittling as it is practiced today and as it was practiced by our ancestors. Additionally, we seek to promote knife carving for the enjoyment of tomorrow’s generations.
